In the Fall of 1991, I, Steve Kelly and my two daughters Juli and Kim, made the move to Alaska to take a job in Anchorage. This was our chance to see the Last Frontier; Land of the Midnight Sun. And so we left Seattle, Washington in our little Nissan and drove into British Columbia. We dove through the longest part of BC of course, caught a bit of the Yukon and Northwest Territories, crossed into Alaska, and headed south to Anchorage. In all, it was 2500 miles over 7 days and not once did we lose site of the mountains. It was this trip that turned me from a portrait photographer into a nature photographer. I have been shooting nature ever since. I still kept my portrait skills up by taking pictures of my daughters ..... much to their dismay. I started my first web site in 1998 - in order to share the beauty we had found here. That web site was pretty dismal .... fuzzy pictures and no content what-so-ever. Content? ... what was that? But it wasn't long before Decor developed to the point that you see today. In 2000, I started thinking that maybe I could make a little money with my work. Hey! ... it could happen!!! Well truth is ... I am making some headway toward that goal. Each year gets a little better allowing us to buy a little more food. In fact, the dog gets to eat regular this year. But now, I have a new goal .... to quit my day job. Ambitious? Oh yes. Tough? You bet. So many pitfalls; so much competition to overcome. But hey! ... I have an advantage ... humility! That's right .... I'm humble enough to ask for help! Your help. Please help us live another week or another month. We're not asking for handouts, welfare, gifts, or charity. We are, however, offering beautiful fine art photography and Alaska's "biggest and bestest" Screen Savers money can buy ....... and .... at fair market prices. In 2001, Juli and I were on a trip to Denali National Park. It's a 3.5 hour drive from where we live but this day it took 8.5 hours to get there. The weather, the lighting, and the scenery were perfect and it took us that long because of all the stopping we did. Juli got so into taking pictures that we decided to start a little Pop and Daughter business selling our images in a variety of ways. Juli has not only become a good photographer but a the sales manager as well. Today, we have the Steve Kelly Gallery of Fine Art Photography at Portage Glacier, we sell our best work in two, huge, screen savers, we sell over the internet via our web site, and we shoot weddings all over Alaska. Now! ..... considering how tough it is to make a living in photography ..... isn't there at least one photograph on this site that would look great on your wall, fit that hard-to-fill spot, or set off your lobby or office? Or how about our Wild Alaska Screen Saver? Wouldn't that make a great gift or a wonderful Alaskan memory? Well of course it would .... we all know that. I am confident, that good hearted people the whole world over, know what needs to be done, now, on this web site .....right? Well OK then! |
